Our courses follow the recommended course programme set by Archery GB. Over 6 weeks you will be coached from knowing nothing about archery to being competent in the following areas:
- The safety rules of an archery range
- Equipment used in target archery
- Hitting a 60cm target, both bare bow and sighted from 10m
- The way archery is structured in the UK and Worldwide
- What are Rounds and how to score
- Different types of archery and bows
- How to select personal equipment that's right for you
- What you can do after the course
After the course you have the option of joining our ever-growing active club shooters, explore the Club Zone to find out about the club.
This course is great for beginners who are looking to take archery on as a hobby or for people who just want to challenge themselves with something new. This is the course that you have to do before you join any archery club. At Southsea Archery we believe that our Beginners Courses are the best around both for price and content. The course runs over six, 1 hour long sessions and aims to take someone from never lifting a bow through to being competent enough to shoot within a club. On completion of the course you will be presented with a certificate stating your competence.
Our Taster Sessions are held at our 10m indoor range at The Havelock Community Centre. It's perfect for beginners and easy to find!
For everyone who is thinking about doing our courses you are likely to have Sonnie, Mark or Dave as your coaches. Sonnie, Mark & Dave have been running all our courses together. They have proved to be a good team with over 8 years teaching experience between them!
